History- Selene is one of the long-lived mutants known as the Externals who had been around before any recorded civilisation.
- In her efforts to obtain powers, she was responsible for the creation of the hidden Amazonian city of Nova Roma.
- She later joined the Hellfire Club Inner Circle as the Black Queen. When Rachel Summers arrived in the present from her future timeline, Selene attempted to control her.
- Rachel subsequently tried to kill Selene but was stopped by Wolverine.
- Selene later assumed control of the Club, blackmailing Sunspot into the Club's ranks.
- She later appeared to be held prisoner beneath the Hellfire Club headquarters. Despite that, she attempted to take revenge on Rachel Grey, who had almost killed her once, but the attempt was thwarted.
Selene recently used black magic to pervert the Techno-Organic virus, which she used to raise mutants from the dead.
